Rejection!!

Hi everyone! A wonderous things just happened; I got my first agent rejection letter!!

Weird thing to celebrate but let me explain. I’ve been shopping around looking for a Literary Agent for about a week or so, give or take, and I was a little worried I wouldn’t hear back from anyone for several months. Yet, lo and behold, I got my first rejection! Feels like I’ve joined an exclusive club, you know?

I think a lot of people can get all caught up in their own doubts and fears and not make it this far in the author process and it is heartening to know that every author has faced rejection at one time or another. Hell, every creator has faced rejection at one time or another, and this is when the perseverance aspect of creation comes to play.

But also, the rejection was so sweet. I won’t share who it was, because I want to respect their anonymity, but look at how thoughtful this is!

“Thank you very much for your submission. I'm sorry, but your project is not a perfect fit for me at this time so unfortunately I will have to pass. Thank you for considering me and best of luck with your future queries.”

THAT IS SO FUCKING NICE. You get rejected from a job, and it’s always that same bullcrap of “UnFoRtUnAtLeY you didn’t get the gig so fuck that and fuck you.” But this felt like someone took the time to look at what I had made, decided it wasn’t for them, and wrote me a nice little note. I absolutely love it. I want this framed on my wall.

I think it goes without saying that obviously, I’ll keep trying, cause duh. There are hundreds of agents in this wide world of ours and by the time I apply to a whole bunch of them, I hope to have a whole second book I can shop around as well! Hope springs eternal :D And I thank this agent for being kind.

Anyway, chapter two will go up sometime today and I will also work on chapter three once I finish some chores. Been a slow bean today, feeling like I still haven’t really gotten my day started. Hope you all have a nice Wednesday!
